Participants of the Jim White Fitness Foundation’s inaugural “White House 2 White House” relay set out early Nov. 15, above left, to help combat homelessness during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.

Twelve locals ran relay style, supported by motorcade, about 240 miles from Virginia Beach to Washington, D.C. They delivered donations to eight shelters along the way, arriving at Central Union Mission in D.C. with the last delivery at about 4 p.m. Nov. 16. There, 15 homeless runners joined the group for the final stretch to the White House, below left.
