We do more than just LIFT…we run too! Last year we tackled an amazing feat of trekking our way across the state for over 200 miles. Two RV’s of runners from Virginia Beach not only achieved the physical task, they raised over $22,000. This journey was an amazing experience for our team and for our cause.

We are busy planning and making preparations for our 2016 run. With so much interest and encouragement from our local running community, we are currently taking applications for team members. Please see below, pray, and decide if this is the right event for you.

We’re Running to the White House!

The Jim White Fitness Foundation is proud to announce its support of a fundraiser relay from Jim White Fitness & Nutrition Studios in Virginia Beach to the White House in Washington, D.C.

Called “White House 2 White House,” this 240-mile, 36-hour relay has 12 volunteers running on November 15th through the 16th in hopes of bringing more attention to the homeless and hunger crisis in our nation, and to raise funds supporting efforts the Foundation makes in our community.

Foundation volunteers reach out to educate groups of homeless and those in need through the Jim White Fitness Foundation’s LIFT program. (LIFT stands for Lifting spirits, Improving bodies, Feeding souls and Transforming lives.) Through weekly fitness sessions, nutrition education, healthy cooking classes, grocery store tours and more, Foundation volunteers work to help people get healthy, gain confidence and motivation, so they can turn their lives around.

“We wanted to be heard, we wanted the homeless population to be recognized and not swept underneath the rug,” said Jim White, Founder of the Jim White Fitness Foundation. “And what better way to do that than to use the gifts we have and the health message we speak daily and run to the Nation’s capital?”

Volunteers not running will be putting together care packages that will be distributed to homeless shelters along the relay route.

LIFT – Improving Bodies, Feeding Souls

Fitness is nothing without food right? We can’t neglect what our bodies need, especially when we’re starting a new fitness regimen! We have tons of nutrition fun planned for our athletes this month. So far, we’ve discussed how to nourish our bodies properly and even made a trip to the grocery store. Finding foods of the highest quality and nutrients can be tricky when you’re on a budget. But our RD’s and DTR’s from Jim White Fitness & Nutrition Studios have helped the athletes make the best choices they can when grocery shopping and dining out. The athletes have really enjoyed seeing portion control being demonstrated and are always asking awesome questions. The interest in improving their diets has greatly strengthened their focus and is continuously helping them achieve new goals each week. We encourage them to record any nutrition questions or difficulties they have and share them with our volunteers, RDs, and DTRs.

Our mission is to make nutrition and eating healthy as easy as we can so the athletes are able to maintain healthy habits for a life time! We certainly do not expect that everyone knows how to prepare and cook healthy well-balanced meals so we have invited professional chefs from the International Culinary School to come and demonstrate quick and tasty meals that we can make at home with budget in mind. Our athletes are excited to improve their nutrition and will be receiving cook books so they can always have recipes to guide them through breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even the snacks. Nutrition is and will always be a major factor in weight loss but for these athletes we hope for much more than just pounds shed, we’re looking to rid them of any unhealthy habits and encourage a better relationship with food all together!
