We’re on a mission to end homelessness with the help of a supportive and engaged team encompassing our board of directors, staff, and amazing volunteers.
OUR FOUNDATION
At LIFT Fitness Foundation, we do more than teach fitness and nutrition. We empower Hampton Roads’ most vulnerable communities by providing the tools they need for sustainable change.Â
Our programs deliver fitness training by certified personal trainers, nutritional guidance by registered dietitians, and mental wellness support from experts. These elements combine to help individuals not just survive, but thrive.Â
We focus on empowering homeless individuals, recovering addicts, survivors of domestic abuse, single parents, and at-risk youth. Our goal is clear: equip each person with the strength, confidence, and skills needed for a stable and healthy future.
GROWING OUR LIFT PROGRAMS
Over the past several years, LIFT Fitness Foundation has continued to grow in both reach and impact, driven by strong partnerships and a clear focus on creating a foundation of wellness for individuals in need.
By 2024, LIFT was delivering high-impact programs with core partners including ForKids, The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, Housing Resource Center, and HER Shelter. These partnerships allowed us to refine our program model and consistently deliver holistic wellness support that integrates fitness, nutrition education, behavioral health, accountability, and community connection.
As we move into 2026 and beyond, LIFT is expanding both the number of programs we run and the communities we serve. We are now operating 18 programs annually across Hampton Roads, continuing our work with long-standing partners while welcoming new partnerships with Connect With A Wish, JCOC, and Union Mission’s long-term housing residents. Each partnership reflects our commitment to meeting people where they are and supporting long-term, sustainable change.
One of the most significant areas of growth is our continued expansion with The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers. Following the success of our programs in Hampton Roads, LIFT is preparing to launch ARC programs in Alexandria, Washington, D.C., and Charlotte, North Carolina beginning in 2027. Our long-term vision is to expand into all 21 Adult Rehabilitation Centers across the Salvation Army’s Southern Territory by 2030.
This growth reflects the strength of the LIFT model and the dedication of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and partners who make the work possible. While our footprint continues to expand, our mission remains the same: to create a foundation of wellness that empowers individuals to build healthier, more stable lives through movement, education, accountability, and support.
As we look ahead, we are grateful for the community of supporters who make this work possible and excited for what’s next as LIFT continues to grow with purpose and intention.
